The Gulf War

Summary

The Gulf War (January–February 1991) was a conflict in which a U.S.-led coalition of 35 nations expelled Iraqi forces from Kuwait following Iraq's August 1990 invasion. The war featured a massive air campaign followed by a brief ground offensive that liberated Kuwait in just 100 hours of combat. This decisive military victory, achieved with relatively low coalition casualties, demonstrated advanced American military technology and showcased U.S. global leadership in the immediate post-Cold War era. The conflict left Saddam Hussein's regime in power in Iraq, setting the stage for continued tensions in the region.
